Let’s see where do I start…my head is still a spinnin’

As of about a couple days ago if you had asked me if Polygyny was Biblical, I probably would have told you you were crazy. I was convinced that it was strictly an Old Testament thing (‘er except for those 1 Timothy 3:2, 12 et al. passages that I could never quite digest…).

A couple of days ago the Lord gave me a vision that is emblazoned in my head (more on that later) that I am convicted to mean that I will take headship over a large poly family. Um. Wow. The vision was not at all sexual in nature, in fact it felt more pure than anything I have experienced before, but the vision has persisted as clearly as a high resolution photo in my hand. After some prayerful research, I have confirmed the basis of the vision with scripture. I sort of spilled the beans about the vision to my wife during some intimate time (big mistake) and she was completely clueless to it all. After I peeled her off the ceiling, we talked about it and, while I don’t think she is fully onboard, I can see that she trusts the validity of the vision and obediently honors my headship. Next steps…next steps…

I am a reformed Christian (TULIP, solas, etc.) and my family and I attend a small family-integrated church. I am 40 and a native to, and resident of, Washington state. I am a Navy veteran (7 years). I have a beautiful wife of 17 years (my H.S. sweety) and we have a great marriage. We have been blessed with 3 beautiful boys (+1 on the way). We homeschool and spend a great deal of time as a family playing games, going to organic farms, camping, oh and doing laundry (it never ends).

I am so happy to have found BFO and will support in any way I can. Nice to be here. This is both a new and wonderful place to be. The ways of God are good.

single men

I wasn’t sure which forum to put this under…but, just a quick observation…

I see a myriad of people here, obviously..many married, whether it be monogamous or polygamous, and a lot of single women, but I don’t see many single men. Not necessarily trying to or not trying to *find* one, it was simply an observation. Are there more out there than I realize?

The Future of Biblical Families . .

. . I would like to get some feedback from the readers of our forum.

What do you see for the future of Biblical Families? What would you LIKE to see? What would you NOT like to see?

There is no right or wrong answer to these questions. I just want to get some ideas and sense of the heart of people directly impacted by the ministry of Biblical Families.

Hello everyone…it is nice to see a forum like this available to those with a Biblical understanding of marriage and family…and I guess to those who don’t but are interested to learn.

I thought I would take a minute to let you know why I use the name Scarecrow. I have inquired of individuals from time to time what they think of the scarecrow and some have a negative image of a scarecrow perhaps because they have been used in some movies as something scary, some think of the Wizard of Oz (which was a parody about the decision to go off the gold standard – yellow brick road, oz is an abbreviation for ounce…etc…). To me the scarecrow is a reminder of what my Lord and my God Yeshua Messiah has done for me. You will find the scarecrow hanging on a tree arms spread wide. You will notice his condition to be tattered and torn. You will notice he is alone. You see him dutifully performing his task without complaint. You will notice he protects the harvest. You will see he scares away the birds, which in the scriptures usually represent evil. The scarecrow reminds me of what has been done for me; I know Yeshua is not yet hanging on the tree; He is risen, He is glorified with the Father.

I wear an empty cross around my neck which I drilled some of the gold out and placed a mustard seed in the center. The purpose of this is to remind me to have faith in my risen savior.

No I do not consider the scarecrow a graven image, nor do I worship the scarecrow. When I think of the scarecrow I am simply reminded of what has been done to cleanse me from my sin and save me from eternal separation from the Father.

1 Corinthians 6:19-20 Or do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit within you, whom you have from God? You are not your own, for you were bought with a price. So glorify God in your body.
