a quick hello

I’ve been reading on this site and listened to the online radio shows and appreciate what you all have to say.
My wife, who I love dearly, isn’t keen on poly but it’s a topic that has been on my heart for several years. I believe the biblical principles of it go a long way toward defining God honoring family relationships and we all suffer because our culture doesn’t allow God’s word to define the family institution.
I don’t have time now for "my story". I just wanted to say thank you all for being here.

What does God have to say to single mothers?"

The Bible does not directly address single mothers, but there are many examples of God’s gentle interaction with women, mothers, widows and their children. These examples, and God’s gentleness, apply whether a mother is single or married or widowed or divorced. God knows each person intimately, and knows her situation completely. The Bible warns that sex outside of marriage is sinful and dangerous, and will bring troubles, one of which is that a woman might have to raise a child by herself, which is undoubtedly difficult. And if it is her own sin that has resulted in single motherhood, our gracious God is still just as willing to bring help and comfort. And what’s better is that He offers forgiveness for those sins through Jesus Christ, and the eternal comfort of heaven for the mother who accepts Him, the children who accept Him, and even the estranged husband who accepts Him!

But often a woman finds herself alone and raising children through no fault of her own. Sadly, women are often innocent victims of a world wracked by war and terrorism. Husbands go off to war and never return, selflessly giving their lives for their countries. If a husband’s death has left a woman single with children, there is no doubt that God will help and comfort that woman.

God cares about families. But He is more concerned with each person, no matter what their family looks like, repenting of sin and coming into a relationship with Him. He wants us to know Him, because His creatures knowing Him brings us joy and brings Him glory. We get very bound up in the details of our lives, worrying what other people will think of us, and whether the church will accept us, and whether we have ruined things entirely. But God calls the Christian to the joy of being above the weight of worry. He has said that we should cast all our cares upon Him, for He cares for us (1 Peter 5:7). He wants to carry the burden, and forgive our sins, and then forget about our sins and help us to move on. All He asks us to…

Hello,

HI YALL

We are from north Texas, lol. Anyway, my wife and I are Christians, then baptist. We both went to church as kids. We go to church alot now, we have learned so much. We have been thinking about plural marriage, I have done a in-depth Bible study. I pray that, I put as much time into all my Bible studies. I found that old Testament and New Testament, allows it… The closest thing that my church can say against it is that, we are to follow mans law. Render unto Caesar. They tried, alot of things, if they don’t want to, then they should not practice plural marriage. What gets me is that I know that if, a man came with two wifes they would say get rid of all but one and repent. Which is what one should do if the Bible said it was a sin. So, the Church, would say disregard That Jesus said it is a sin to divorce, and remarry, no where does it say-JUST- it is a sin to marry again. In Mat. 25:1-13, is about the Rapture, but EVERY WORD form Jesus was ordained by God the Father, before Creation. So, we have come to the belief that it is allowed by the Bible. We have talked, prayed, prayed, and prayed some more about it. I do not want to lead my family astray. I read a the Bible, where any said, that it said that it WAS allowed, but not any more, I can not find it. I prayed every day that God would illuminate the Scripture, and lead me to find His truth about it, or even bring someone from our church to, show us. He did… Even while telling me, how wrong it is, every one said "the Scripture is the only true Authority." Our last Sunday morning Bible study was about that very thing, that the Scripture is the only true Authority, and not to follow Man made religious regulations, to go to the Scripture for proof. I asked the question, "Do baptist consider king David, to be a sinner for all the wifes that he had or just the one" I know that you know the answer.{In todays times, yes we do}. My response was, That’s not what my Bible, says. I know th…

Psycho Prosser?

Well, this is certainly disturbing:

Wisconsin Supreme Court Justice David Prosser allegedly grabbed fellow Justice Ann Walsh Bradley around the neck in an argument in her chambers last week, according to at least three knowledgeable sources. […]

They say an argument that occurred before the court’s release of a decision upholding a bill to curtail the collective bargaining rights of public employees culminated in a physical altercation in the presence of other justices. Bradley purportedly asked Prosser to leave her office, whereupon Prosser grabbed Bradley by the neck with both hands.

Justice Prosser, contacted Friday afternoon by the Center, declined comment: “I have nothing to say about it.”

Obviously, if the allegations weren’t true, Prosser would “have something to say about it”. Sounds like at least some of the other justices were in Bradley’s office at the time.

Will Prosser resign?

If not, obviously the legislature ought to begin impeachment proceedings.

Unfortunately, with this legislature, you can’t assume that they’d be willing to impeach a justice for physically assaulting another justice … if the assaulter is a Republican.
