So eventually I might get excommunicated in a few years

So some time ago I asked the Pastor what he would do if I married more than one woman and he said, he might excommunicate me because he believes it is adultery

He said he can not prove it is adultery but you can not prove it is not, and that has been the stance of the Church fathers.

[Of course I have never heard of the great Southern Baptist Church Fathers, (by the way I am not Southern Baptist ;) ), he has never ever explained to me where this denomination comes from, but…. he said it is important to him to have a denomination so he picked this one because it is "the most Biblical." Southern Baptists could very well have "great Church Fathers" but… they just never taught me about them]

I could give numerous reasons why I think people there proclaim polygyny is wrong on an emotional basis but I will not go there.

So what should I do considering sooner or later I will have to leave essentially any Church I join?

And if polygyny is so bad shouldn’t he kick me out for being a false teaching heretic who disagrees with everyone (I do not bring up the topic much anymore because I explained my point of view and saw they are not accepting of the truth and that is enough.)

The Burning of the Koran Debate

What do you think? Suppose a Muslim were to announce a burning of the Holy Bible. I wonder what the response would be from around the world? Would there be this type of response as there is over this man’s plan to burn the Koran? Would national leaders around the nation and globe respond in an effort to protect the Holy Bible? Or should government leaders be involved in a statement one way or the other on this matter, especially here in America with the 1st Amendment rights.

One statement from the Taliban was very troubling to me: "A spokesman for the Taliban in Afghanistan told CNN, "If in Florida they were to burn the Quran, we will target any Christians, even if they are innocent, because the Quran is our holy book and we do not want someone to burn our holy book." So much for peaceful co-existence!

Now I agree that to burn the Koran is not in line with the teachings of Christ and the apostles, as they taught we should try and live at peace with all people if possible. I think the pastor is decreasing his ability to build relationships and speak the truth of Christ’s love into the hearts of the Muslims if he goes through with this unwise act.

But, I’m curious as to what would occur if this was another religion burning the Christian Holy Bible? I would hope that all Christians would show a spirit of kindness and not one of hatred over it if someone were to do that.

Is it possible that the reaction around the globe over this is because of how many see Islam? Could it be that Islam is certainly not recognized by most as a peaceful religion? In other words, is the strong reaction from leaders around the world because the masses of leaders really see Islam as a "kill and conquer by the sword religion" and thus they speak against this due to a legitimate fear of Islamic assaults?

See article below.

In John 10 what does the word "gods" mean?

Hello I have been thinking about the word translated "gods" in John 10, and I have not come up with an answer that feels fully satisfactory to me. I have come up with several possible meanings that are not polytheistic, but I am looking for other peoples ideas about how to correctly understand what is meant by "gods" in John 10. I also put some other scripture that might or might not help

psalm 82 NIV

1 God presides in the great assembly;
he gives judgment among the "gods":

2 "How long will you [a] defend the unjust
and show partiality to the wicked?

3 Defend the cause of the weak and fatherless;
maintain the rights of the poor and oppressed.

4 Rescue the weak and needy;
deliver them from the hand of the wicked.

5 "They know nothing, they understand nothing.
They walk about in darkness;
all the foundations of the earth are shaken.

6 "I said, ‘You are "gods";
you are all sons of the Most High.’

7 But you will die like mere men;
you will fall like every other ruler."

8 Rise up, O God, judge the earth,
for all the nations are your inheritance.

[a] Psalm 82:2 The Hebrew is plural.

John 10 :31-38 NIV

Again the Jews picked up stones to stone him, 32but Jesus said to them, "I have shown you many great miracles from the Father. For which of these do you stone me?"

33"We are not stoning you for any of these," replied the Jews, "but for blasphemy, because you, a mere man, claim to be God."

34Jesus answered them, "Is it not written in your Law, ‘I have said you are gods'[e]? 35If he called them ‘gods,’ to whom the word of God came—and the Scripture cannot be broken— 36what about the one whom the Father set apart as his very own and sent into the world? Why then do you accuse me of blasphemy because I said, ‘I am God’s Son’? 37Do not believe me unless I do what my Father does. 38But if I do it, even though you do not beli…
