I’m back to the land of the living…

Thank you to all who prayed and supported us during this whole arm break surgery thing. It is far from over, but the final arm cast is off, and I can type again (barely). I still have lots of pain, and the metal plates and pegs are really creepy stuck into my arm.

Anyway, hello to all the new people, miss you to all the old friends, and I hope that we make it to the next retreat. Should be able to without a problem.

On a side note, now that I am old enough, I think I will retire. I am planning on still contracting when any old customers call for work, but most retirees do stuff on the side anyway. With our God-sustaining lifestyle (most people call it self-sustaining) we don’t need a bunch of money. It is amazing what you can do with a small garden, and living within your means. So, if anyone needs help with anything, as long as I can get there, and you have somewhere for the 6 of us to sleep, we are ready to help with that barn raising, house painting, or whatever.

We are looking for an RV that we can drive around and live in when we are away from the homestead helping our brothers and sisters. If we can get one and fix it up, we can travel a little and help without needing to be accomodated.

The kids are doing well, Dee Ann is great. It is good to be back.

Living off the grid

Lately I’ve been thinking a lot about living as independently of the system as possible. Its often called living off of the grid or a sustainable lifestyle. I am not interested in it as a "hide from the New World Order" or environmentalist thing. I just don’t know how much longer this system will be around or allow me to participate in it. Also it seems like it would lead to simple living that is consistent with living in the world but living not being a part of it. I’m really interested in independent power generation and simplicity (but not giving up hygiene, sorry cleanliness being next to Godliness my not be in the Bible but its still good policy). Anyone out there looking into this or even trying to achieve it?

Nuts and Bolts: The Physical House

MickyH wrote: spake unto us: " I think that separate living spaces [in Sister Wives] are fine, and esp separate sleeping quarters..They need something sacred between the two of them, no matter what two of them it maybe :)

i was wondering . . . how normal is the living situation on Sister Wives I cannot imagine there are that many really cool houses out there. I would think most people live in a normal three (or four) bedroom house and share a kitchen and laundry.

i was thinking my nearly 2000 sq ft home and wondered if it would be big enough. I have 3+ bedrooms upstairs. There is one large room that we have talked about the need (want) to wall off into another bedroom. So I am wondering is this way of living and sleeping in sister wives is normal?

Unplugged Christians Living Off The Grid .

. He is part of a wider movement of conservative Christians who are choosing to live their lives on the edge of society, unplugged from civilization as much as they can, living under basic biblical principles.

Living Together or Separate?

I know this topic has been discussed here and there, but I’d like to hear from those actually living PM to share what you think the benefits and downsides are to living together or wives living separately (depending which applies to you).

Hubby has the "why can’t we all just get along?" attitude and I think we all do get along, but there are various stresses to all living together especially with a bunch of small children and I’m just wondering what others have found regarding which works better for your family and why. I know of at least one family on here where the wives live separately, but from what I’m told, the plan is to all be together eventually. Did you ever all live together?

I’ll just leave it at that and wait to hear from everyone.

Living off the grid and animal tagging.

Just wanted to make everyone aware of this if you don’t already know. Click on the link and take a look at the article.

Seems like it’s another thing that will keep people rapped up into the world system even if they are trying to get off the grid. This is very disappointing to me.
