My husband needs prayer due to illness

My husband and I love the Lord and have been saved and baptized. Recently my husband has became very ill. He is one that doesn’t like to go to the doctor, but he ask me to make an appointment for him with my family doctor. When the doctor examined him she felt a knot in his abdomen, due to his history of having a hernia over his navel, she felt that it may have been another hernia. She ordered a CT scan with and without contrast. Well, our insurance decided that they didn’t want to pay for the test, but they finally okayed a CT scan without the contrast. On the scan it showed that he has a 3×2 cm lesion on his liver, pancreatitis of the head of his pancreas, enlarged spleen, and ascites on liver and spleen. He is in a lot of pain, he has lost 30 in 3 months, he can’t work due to the pain. Now he has to go through another CT scan with contrast. The drink he has to drink is horrible and makes him nauseated. Please pray for us. I am disabled due to a horrible back. We appreciate the prayers. In christian love, Byron and Nellie Weeks

Hello from England!

Hi everyone!

I joined this forum some months ago but I feel it’s about time I introduce myselfy. I am a Christian wife who loves the word of God and take it very seriously. I have been without church for a while now. My husband and I are looking for a place to fellowship. I long to be in church, but one thing that is making me hesitant is the definition of marriage to most Christians. About 6 months ago, miraculously God opened my eyes about polygyny. I used to absolutely think the whole practise of plural marriage was perverted and strange and could never see myself sharing my husband. I could not even think or imagine my husband with another woman. I even felt jealous to see him just looking at a beautiful woman. But to my own surprise, the Lord did a lot of work in my heart. I came to the knowledge that plural marriage is not a sin, and it pains me that many professing Christians, (in fact all that I know) believe that polygamy is wicked.

When I look around me, the more I see that polygyny makes so much sense. I have a friend who so desires marriage, she is in her mid 20’s but has had very bad experiences with men, including sexual abuse. Her recent boyfriend dumped her after treating her really bad. She has lived in our house in the past, our children adore her and she loves them as her own. She has no family of her own nearby and she considers our family her own. We feel the same about her. Recently the Lord put her on my heart, and for some reason I think it will be wonderful if my husband married her. Oh how I think it will be so cool! She is my best friend and we have been through so much together, she is closer to me than a sister. However my husband is not very keen on polygyny. He thinks its wrong. I have shared with him my beliefs and he strongly disagrees, though he can see where I am coming from. I even suggested he married my best friend to which he strongly denied, but he was amazed beyond measure that I went from being an insecure jealous possessive…

Prayer for a family in need

Hi all,

Just wanted to ask for prayer for a family in need. The mom lost her husband about four months ago and is having a hard time coming up basic things as she is working and all her income is going to pay the bills. She and her husband were in a plural marriage and so everything is limited on the resources that she has. The second wife has actually went back to her family. There are four children and so all prayers are very much needed.

Sanctification through spouse?

I was doing some reading and got confused by this passage…any input would be appreciated.

1 Corinthians 7:12-16 (New International Version)

12To the rest I say this (I, not the Lord): If any brother has a wife who is not a believer and she is willing to live with him, he must not divorce her. 13And if a woman has a husband who is not a believer and he is willing to live with her, she must not divorce him. 14For the unbelieving husband has been sanctified through his wife, and the unbelieving wife has been sanctified through her believing husband. Otherwise your children would be unclean, but as it is, they are holy.

15But if the unbeliever leaves, let him do so. A believing man or woman is not bound in such circumstances; God has called us to live in peace. 16How do you know, wife, whether you will save your husband? Or, how do you know, husband, whether you will save your wife?

In verse 14 it makes it seem like automatically the unbelieving spouse is sanctified by their believing spouse, but in verse 16, it says "how do you know…?" A friend said he believes that since in marriage you become one flesh that they are automatically sanctified because one can’t perish while the other lives forever…but then in my study Bible it refers to 1 Peter 3:1 where it says, "Wives, in the same way be submissive to your husbands so that, if any of them do not believe the word, they may be won over without words by the behavior of their wives…".

I guess, ultimately it’s hard for me to imagine a spouse fully sanctifying their spouse regardless of if they live their whole lives believing or not…but verse 14 clearly says the unbelieving husband has been sanctified through his wife, and vice versa.

Opinions? Thanks…I’m still a babe here at a young 22 :P lol

Soon To Be SW

Hello,

I am soon to be the SW but have come into the relationship under stressful circumstances.

I will be truthful with you – my relationship with my future husband began without his FW knowing about it. She was just recently told after 1 year of our relationship beginning.
She had been looking for someone already but had no idea that her husband had already chosen me.
Needless to say, she is very hurt and confused and feels in her words "inadequate".
We have both tried to reassure her that this was not intentional and that we want to be a family very much.

How can we comfort her and help her through this.
She and I have had very open dialogue since she found out, maybe too open, but it is too late to go back.
I want so much to be part of this family and I want to be there for her.

Please help.
C~

My Husband Will Not Work

I had a woman forward this question to me on Facebook. I would like to hear your advice and responses:

I know what the Bible says about men who do not work-provide for their family, but not sure what scripture says about the spouse and what they are to do in that situation. My husband does not work or is willing to work. He has reversed our roles in our household, not by my choice but by his actions. What am I supposed to do? What are my options Biblically?

Blessings,
