Hi, I’m new!

Hello, I’m new to the board and to Plural marriage. I am Amy and I’m currently in the process of joining a family. My best friend and soon to be hubby.. :D

This is all very new to me and we are taking it one day at a time. We are in Tulsa, OK. It was a long journey getting here and God is working in our family as we move toward the future and a permanent and biblical covenant marriage.

I’m hoping to make friends and find support as I’m striving to be a good sisterwife and learn how others do this! ;)

My SW nikismom aka Gidgit is by best friend and now she can truly be my sister. We grew up together and I am so happy that I am getting to join her family! :)

Hello from England!

Hi everyone!

I joined this forum some months ago but I feel it’s about time I introduce myselfy. I am a Christian wife who loves the word of God and take it very seriously. I have been without church for a while now. My husband and I are looking for a place to fellowship. I long to be in church, but one thing that is making me hesitant is the definition of marriage to most Christians. About 6 months ago, miraculously God opened my eyes about polygyny. I used to absolutely think the whole practise of plural marriage was perverted and strange and could never see myself sharing my husband. I could not even think or imagine my husband with another woman. I even felt jealous to see him just looking at a beautiful woman. But to my own surprise, the Lord did a lot of work in my heart. I came to the knowledge that plural marriage is not a sin, and it pains me that many professing Christians, (in fact all that I know) believe that polygamy is wicked.

When I look around me, the more I see that polygyny makes so much sense. I have a friend who so desires marriage, she is in her mid 20’s but has had very bad experiences with men, including sexual abuse. Her recent boyfriend dumped her after treating her really bad. She has lived in our house in the past, our children adore her and she loves them as her own. She has no family of her own nearby and she considers our family her own. We feel the same about her. Recently the Lord put her on my heart, and for some reason I think it will be wonderful if my husband married her. Oh how I think it will be so cool! She is my best friend and we have been through so much together, she is closer to me than a sister. However my husband is not very keen on polygyny. He thinks its wrong. I have shared with him my beliefs and he strongly disagrees, though he can see where I am coming from. I even suggested he married my best friend to which he strongly denied, but he was amazed beyond measure that I went from being an insecure jealous possessive…

How do you deal with the "concerned friend"?

I have a friend who, by reason of deduction, eventually figured out our living situation. We knew it was only a matter of time, as SW was babysitting for the family who were friends of ours from the church we stopped attending.

A little background, the wife of that family has… issues. She’s a closet feminist (as in she doesn’t really realize how deeply feminist she really is), she had abuse issues growing up and has a general distrust of men, and also has a sociology degree. A bad combination if you ask me. She is nice, and she has improved over the last several years that we’ve known her, but she’s still very insecure, as well as very very controlling in her family structure.

So, she figured out SW was preggy after she started showing, and our friend decided to "confront" her about it. Now, because SW is terrified of just about anyone she doesn’t know well, she freaked out and said probably quite a bit more than she should have. Which is fine, it would have been figured out eventually, however, some of the things she said didn’t really help the situation.

So our friend, decided that SW has been coerced into this (which really is the opposite in many ways, but that’s another story :) ), and kept offering refuge from this "bad" situation. After SW left, our friend kept calling her and leaving messages that she could come be "safe" at her house, that she didn’t have to stay here, etc. SW eventually left her a message back saying that she doesn’t mind watching the kids, but she won’t discuss her personal life with our friend. Our friend didn’t call back after that ;)

Fast forward a few weeks, and our friend finally decides to call me. Says the same thing… offers refuge, tells me that I am being abused and that I don’t have to live like this, hubby is very wrong, etc. I tried to tell her I am not being abused, that while I wasn’t thrilled at first it’s not so bad now, I had every choice to leave and chose not to, etc. She wouldn…
