What Is A ‘Biblical’ Family?

. . . This may seem like an silly question, but I would like to get some feedback:

What is a ‘Biblical’ family?

*Is a couple a ‘family’?
*Can a family be a ‘family’ with or without children?
*How is the ‘Biblical’ family different than the world’s definition of family?

Blessings,

Biblical physical health

I am going to be studying what physical health and wellness means to God, the importance and commands…I’m pretty excited and just ask for prayer for open eyes and ears to some awesome things that I know He wants to teach me. Thanks in advance :) I’ll likely be posting when I have some tangible info that I feel He’s revealing to me.

The Future of Biblical Families . .

. . I would like to get some feedback from the readers of our forum.

What do you see for the future of Biblical Families? What would you LIKE to see? What would you NOT like to see?

There is no right or wrong answer to these questions. I just want to get some ideas and sense of the heart of people directly impacted by the ministry of Biblical Families.

Blessings,

How About a New Titus 2 Study?

Greetings & Blessings Sisters in Christ,

Just popping in to say Hello, how do ya do and whats new with everyone? Not allot of chatting going on these days here. But I do know that the end of the school year, weather our kiddos are home schooled or in the public/private school systems, that it is a busy season for families. So anywho! Not sure if you’ve been following the topic on the forums here regarding the subject of the Titus 2 study or not. However, Edward the Elder, Beta, Fairlight and others had shared some great Godly insights on the matter. Very good and thought provoking shared thoughts to say the least. I know that Yashua has been dealing with me on the very issues discussed/taught in Titus 2 for some time. As I’ve shared many times before, neither my dh nor myself were raised in Godly/Christian homes. And although my dh and I have been together for 17yrs now, just over the past 2 and a half yrs now I’ve been led of God to study and apply biblical balanced submission & obedience unto my dh. So thankful to finally have found these truths to be so life changing and such a blessing in our marriage! :) I truly enjoy serving and blessing my dh and family, and continue to seek Yashuas help and guidence in this area.

I just love getting my hands on as many biblical/encouraging studies on submission that I can find. As I also enjoy finding new ways to submit to, serve, love on and bless my dh more with each passing day! :) Am I perfect at this calling, No Way, nor will I ever be! Do I make mistakes and lash out or rebel against my dh’s authority? You bet I do, as I’m (we’re all) simple sinful fallen humans! Since applying this study of biblical balanced submission, which most churches gloss over or don’t even address in their women’s bible studies or sermons, our marriage has been blessed with new found love & joy. And with that comes a new found sense of humility & the ability to confess and repent both to Yashua and my dh for any di…

Biblical Marriage . . .

. . . We were having a conversation at home fellowship last night about a new approach to identification when it came to beliefs regarding plural marriage. We were wondering if maybe a better definition would be "Biblical Marriage".

-the phrases "christian polygamy","christian polygyny", "Bible polygamy/polygyny" and even "christian plural marriage" come pre-loaded with negatives built in to the phrasology. In other words, when people see or hear these phrases, the first response is often negative. The phrase "Biblical Marriage" does not.
-"Biblical Marriage" is a better phrase than "covenant marriage", because the first implies the second. Also, "covenant marriage" is used by a number of ministries and modern churches as a definition for "christian marriage", as opposed to secular marriage.
-"Biblical Marriage" is a better definition than "Christian Marriage", because even the latter has an implied definition of traditional monogamy-only.
-"Biblical Marriage" is a better term than "traditional marriage", as that phrase has political baggage associated with it, and also implies monogamy-only.
-"Biblical Marriage" as a doctrine covers the entire definition of marriage in its accepted Biblical norms of celibacy, monogamy and polygyny.
-"Biblical Marriage" as a definition sets itself in opposition to unbiblical ideas such as polyandry, polyamory, and homosexual unions.
-"Biblical Marriage" by definition clearly marks itself as decidedly different in doctrine, function and purpose of marriage as presented by various branches of Mormonism and other groups.
-"Biblical Marriage" fits in wonderfully with the idea, concept and terminology of "Biblical Families".

By using the term "Biblical Marriage" in conversation and in writing, it forces the receiver to ask "Just what is mea…

September 2010 Newsletter

Greetings Brothers and Sisters in Christ!

Yes, we know it’s only been two weeks since our last newsletter, but there’s too much going on not to fill you in again – and we never promised the newsletter would only be once a month!

‘Deeper with Biblical Families’
Speaking of more frequent communications: We know that many of our members, by virtue of not feeling welcome in local bodies, don’t get the chance to do Bible study with other believers as much as they would like to. (We hope you are into the Word alone and as a family, at least!) We have long desired to provide more opportunities in this regard for our members, as most don’t have access to local groups in their area. Would you be interested in receiving a more frequent devotional message by email from Biblical Families? A chance to dig deeper on a topic from the Word, with one of the pastors and teachers (the authors will vary) associated with Biblical Families? Now is your chance. We won’t assume you want to participate, but if you do, you simply need to drop an email to devotional@biblicalfamilies.org from the email address you would like to receive these messages. (That should also help you avoid a junkmail filter blocking this address – if you email us first.) We are excited by this opportunity to build deeper bonds in the Word with our members – and this will be an interactive opportunity as well: we’ll set up forum threads where you can discuss the messages after they are sent. Sign up and check it out!

‘Family Support’ ministry
As we mentioned last time, If you’ve paid attention on our forums, or at retreats, you’ve seen a definite increase in the number of those with some type of need in the past year: needs for jobs, housing, and more. We are blessed that a number of brothers have recognized the needs among us in this harsh economy, and a number from BF staff and other members have felt lead to follow our Savior’s exhortation to meet the needs of one another. To act on that leading, we a…
